Yes No. Thank you! Any more feedback? The more you tell us the more we can help. Can you help us improve? Resolved my issue. Clear instructions. Easy to follow. No jargon. Pictures helped. Didn't match my screen. Incorrect instructions. I was on my outlook screen on my Apple computer and I accidentally pressed on the top pane the windows icon and then I went down and clicked the zoom icon and now my top outlook pane on the top of my screen and the dock pane and the bottom of my screen have disappeared and it only comes back when I move my pointer to either the top of my screen or the bottom of my screen but it disappears again when I take my pointer away from the top or bottom.
What can I do to change this? Look on the view - I think you turns off the ribbon but I'll need to double check on my mac to see what you might have disabled in the bottom.
Can you check on your mac as you said you would and please let me know? Thanks Leon. If you can get a screenshot or picture, that would be good. A screenshot of my outlook is below. Do you see tabs -Home, organize, tools? Hi Diane, Yes I mean the ribbon that is automatically on the top of the screen that shows the apple sign and the bottom that is the dock. I want it to be there all the time like I had it before.
This is because outlook is maximized. The green dot on the left toggles maximize off and on - ESC should get you out of maximize mode too. Before when I would open outlook the menu bar and dock would still be visible but now it autohides and I can only see it if I put my pointer on the menu bar or the dock and as soon as I move my pointer away it autohides it?
I clicked on the green dot but that does not change anything unfortunately. Yes it does shrink the outlook page but I want the top menu pane and the bottom dock to stay permanently on the screen when you open outlook.
At the moment it autohides unless you put your pointer on that section and then it autohides again when you move your pointer away from that section which I do not want to happen. When you are not in full screen, the menu and dock should not autohide. Do they only autohide when you use outlook? You can have the dock always autohide - right click on the dock and choose turn hiding off.
You can hide the menu bar in system preferences, in Dock and Menu bar. Dock Preferences when you right click on the dock. The only time I can hide the menu and dock only in outlook is going to full screen -either the green button, the keyboard shortcut, or the command on the view menu -.
Hi Diane, I don't want to hide the menu and dock when I am in outlook, is there any way of changing the settings so that the menu and dock are always there when I am in outlook? I am having this issue every other day.
I will try this fix, and appreciate you validating that its actually "a thing" and not a rabbit hole to nowhere! Tip: In the minimized Navigation Pane, the folders listed in Favorites appear as vertical buttons, making them available there as well. The vertical buttons that appear depend on the vertical space available in the Outlook window and the arrangement of the folders in the Favorites list.
Turning on or off Favorites does not change the folders in the list. Any folder listed in Favorites when the feature is turned off re-appear when Favorites is turned on again. To add a folder to Favorites , drag the folder into the Favorites list. The folder and its contents are not moved, but a shortcut to the folder is created within Favorites. To remove folders from Favorites , right-click the folder that you want to remove, and then click Remove from Favorites. Removing folders from Favorites does not remove them or its contents from the All Mail Folders list.
To minimize Favorites , click next to the Favorites header. To expand Favorites , click next to the Favorites header. Mail subfolders that you create appear in alphabetical order within each folder in the Navigation Pane. The folders cannot be manually rearranged. These folders cannot be renamed or rearranged. As a workaround, consider adding a frequently used folder to the Favorites list at the top of the Navigation Pane.
Folders in this section can be arranged in any order. Another workaround is to rename folders. To rename a folder, click the folder, and then on the Folder tab, in the Actions group, click Rename Folder. Note: You cannot change the font size, color, or type in the Navigation Pane. Windows Magnifier is an option that increases the font size on your computer screen.
For more information, see Use Magnifier to see items on the screen. Note: Although you can remove all the buttons from the Navigation Pane and maximize the folder pane space by dragging the horizontal splitter bar to the bottom of the Navigation Pane, it is not possible to remove the row of small buttons at the bottom. To rearrange the button order, in the Display buttons in this order list, click the button that you want to change, and then click Move Up or Move Down.
To quickly see more buttons or folders, point to the horizontal splitter bar between the folders and the buttons, and drag the bar up or down when the pointer turns into a double-headed arrow. If you drag the horizontal splitter bar to the bottom of the Navigation Pane, all the large buttons are converted to small buttons and appear as a single row of icons at the bottom of the Navigation Pane.
You can save space in your Outlook window by using the minimized Navigation Pane. Doing this will also allow you to minimize the pane's button area such that only those frequently used buttons are displayed, while the others are reduced to smaller icons.
Right click within the button area of the Navigation pane » select Navigation Pane Options The Navigation Pane Options dialog box appears.
You can restore the order of the buttons in the Navigation pane to their default order at any time. Adding or removing buttons is another option for customizing the Navigation pane. All folders and features are accessible from the Folder list or the Go menu.
Selecting them will remove them from the Navigation pane. Buttons that are not highlighted are not currently displayed.
